An English fine and impressive yellow gold hunting cased keyless pocket chronometer with an enamel portrait by John Gillet, circa 1881, retailed by Marks and Co Ltd. Gilt brass full plate movement with decorated balance bridge, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, two armed cut bimetallic compensation balance, free-sprung, blued steel helical balance spring, diamond endstone.
Dark green translucent enamel guilloché dial, gilt Roman numerals, fleurs-de-lys hands, outer minute dots and stars, and subsidiary seconds.
18 Carat yellow gold case, cover with engraved Arms of Thaig Jung Shums-Ul-Oomaro, Amir-I-Kubir and Khoorsheed Jah, inside with an enamel portrait. Movement signed Thomas Gammage & Son, dial signed Marcks & Co Ltd., and case signed Alfred Thickbroom.
