Gold and enamel repeating keyless lever

A very fine and rare French 18K yellow gold and enamel minute repeating keyless lever pocket watch, circa 1890. Retailed by Auger, Joaillier Bijoutier, Place des Victoires, Paris. A massive, polished case, the back cover decorated with a painted enamel coat of arms on a light blue background. Hinged gold cuvette.

White enamel dial with radial Roman hours, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds, gold spade hands. A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 23 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Signed on the front plate beneath the dial, signed by the retailer on the cuvette.
