A very fine English gold, enamel and half pearl-set duplex pocket watch with centre seconds made for the Chinese market, circa 1830. Engraved gilt movement, Chinese calibre, standing barrel, duplex escapement, polished steel five-arm flat-rim balance, blued steel flat balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator.
Gilt metal cuvette with faux English hallmarks. White enamel dial with radial Roman hours, outer minutes/seconds track, Arabic quarter hour numerals and ovoid hands. Hinged and sprung case back set with a panel of royal blue guilloché enamel with multicoloured gold paillon geometric decoration of roses and foliage, half pearl-set borders, half pearl-set bezel, pendant and bow. Movement signed.
