A very fine, decorative English 18 carat gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1795.
The case back with polychrome enamel summer flowers against a translucent dark red enamel ground, red enamelled bezels and pendant with gold ornaments, case maker’s mark IM. White enamel dial with Roman hours, outer minute divisions and Arabic quarter hours, gold hands. Very finely florally engraved gilt full plate movement, key-winding, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, chain/fusee, florally engraved and pierced balance cock, chatoned diamond endstone on the balance. Movement signed and numbered.
