An English yellow gold hunting cased lever pocket watch for the Ottoman market, circa 1850. This watch features a mechanical movement with an English lever escapement. It features a white enamel dial with Turkish indices and a minute scale, a subsidiary seconds dial, and Fleur de Lys hands. The 18 carat yellow gold case has an obverse decorated with a polychrome enamel design depicting a soldier on horseback in a medallion, set against a translucent blue enamel background embellished with foliage, small rubies, and fine pearls. The reverse showcases a polychrome enamel decoration centred on a floral bouquet, also set against a translucent blue background adorned with foliage, small rubies, and fine pearls. It has a fluted edge. Both the dial and movement are signed.
