Heavy gold chronometer by Santiago James Moore French

A rare and heavy English 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating pocket chronometer, Hallmarked London 1830. Gilt full plate high quality movement with a detachable foliate engraved foot plate and engraved balance cock, cylindrical pillars, Earnshaw type spring footed detent chronometer escapement with brass escape wheel,  free-sprung two armed cut bimetallic compensation balance with wedge-shaped brass weights and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves, diamond endstone. Gold-hinged cuvette.
Engine-turned gold dial with Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds at six o’clock and original blued steel Serpine hands. Plain case with a reeded band. Cuvette and movement signed.
