–
A pair cased watch with early lever escapement, repeater and chatelaine, made by J. Ward, in London, England, circa 1775. Both cases of this watch are pierced, the outer case is crafted from gilt, the inner case is a high quality gold case crafted from at least 18 carat gold, it is engraved with a view of a city, a grotesque mask, tendrils and mythical creatures, houses a bell and has a dome crafted from silver. The enamel dial features Roman hour numerals and unusual and particularly beautiful gold arrow hands. The movement is fitted with an early lever escapement, a worm screw, an hour’s and quarter’s repeater and a diamond end stone.
