An English silver hunting cased pocket watch with a nominative dial, made by James Wates, Woolwich, circa 1863. A polished silver plain case with key winding. A white enamel dial with radial letters forming the name James Wates, outer minute track and yellow gold Pear hands. A gilt brass movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, monometallic balance (polished steel) and blued steel flat hairspring. The case is signed by WR, probably William Rowlands, London, Master casemaker registered in June 1817, 1821, 1830 and 1838; London letter date for 1828. The dial and movement are signed.
