Exquisite and very fine quality pocket watch

An exquisite large gold enamel numbered verge watch of very fine quality, made by Joseph Dodds in London, England, circa 1810. The open faced case of this watch is crafted from 18 Carat gold, is enamelled on both sides, has the English case punch and the casemaker’s punch GR. The white enamel dial has an outer ring with black Arabic hour numerals and very beautiful pink gold hands. The numbered movement has a verge escapement.
The movement is signed.

Joseph Dodds,
The English watchmaker Joseph Dodds Sr was the son of William Dodds and was a resident of the parish of Saint Ann and Agnes in Aldersgate, London. He became a member of the Clockmakers Company in 1794. He married the spinner Mary Bearda Holm of the parish of Saint Bridget on October 4, 1783. He was 24 years old and she was 23 years old. From this marriage, Joseph Dodds junior was born. He was trained by his father from October 12, 1807 to November 7, 1814. Joseph Dodds Sr died in 1817.
