A very fine, large English 18K gold hunting cased keyless pocket watch with free-sprung balance, circa 1881. Gilt half-plate movement, jewels in screwed chatons, lateral lever escapement, free-sprung cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold timing and temperature adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, diamond endstone.
Case polished. Hinged gold cuvette.
Off-white enamel dial with elongated radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute markers, large subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. Dial and movement signed, case punched with maker’s mark HW.
