Gold keyless lever pocket watch
–
A heavy English 18 carat gold hunting cased minute repeating center seconds chronograph keyless lever pocket watch, circa 1890. The unsigned fully jewelled and numbered movement partly Swiss engraved meaning that some components were supplied by Swiss watch houses, the chronograph mechanism is located under the dial. The cuvette has an interesting inscription stating that the watch was gifted as a token of respect and goodwill to Brother R. Kelly by fellow members of a Masonic Lodge in March 1899. The white enamelled dail has Roman numerals, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals, the subsidiary seconds are located at 6 o’clock , a 30 minute register at 12 o’clock and original blued steel hands with a gold centre seconds hand. The massive plain English case is hallmarked, a slide for the repeater in the band, made by Philippe Woodman who worked out of Northampton Square, Clerkenwell London.
