A fine English, gilt brass and tortoiseshell pocket watch with gold champlevé dial, circa 1700. Back and bezel covered with tortoiseshell and decorated with studs, brass shutter for the winding aperture. Gold, champlevé dial, radial Roman numerals, an outer minute ring with five-minute Arabic numerals on polished oval cartouches, centre chased with foliate scrolls, signature cartouches and a winged angel’s head. Blued steel beetle and poker hands. A gilt full-plate movement with large divided Egyptian pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, under-sprung plain three-arm steel balance with flat balance spring, single-footed winged cock pierced and finely engraved with symmetrical stylized foliage, mask in the neck, rack and pinion regulator with silver dial. Dial and movement signed.
