An important and very fine English precision pocket watch with minute tourbillon “Kew certificate class A 87-4 marks especially good”, circa 1899. 2/3 Plate movement, frosted, gilt, signed, blued screws, English lever escapement, gold screw compensation balance, freesprung, blued balance spring, counterpoised lever, finely polished bevelled steel tourbillon cage, ruby endstone on lever and escape wheel. This is one of two known tourbillons by Benson. Enamel dial by Willis, radial Roman numerals, sunk seconds and blued Fleur-de-Lys hands. 18 Carat gold, tiered, smooth case, case maker punch mark “FT” (Frederick Thoms), glazed movement.
