An extremely rare and heavy English silver open faced deck watch with a 34 minute carrousel in the manner of Bahne Bonniksen made for the Royal Navy, circa 1895. This watch has a plain case with English Hallmarks from 1895. The original signed and numbered white enamel dial is in very fine condition with radial Roman hours, an outer minute track and blued steel spade hands. The lever movement has a 34 minute carrousel, is engraved with a military marking of the Royal Navy, signed and numbered.

Evan Roberts 
Evan Roberts was a maker and dealer of watches from Wales who lived from 1836 to 1918. He built up an impressive collection of watches, of which some were displayed at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. During his lifetime, several publications presented his collection. After his death, he bequeathed large parts of it to the Victoria & Albert Museum and the London Science Museum, while others were given to the National Museum of Wales. According to the Dictionary of Welsh Biography, Evan Roberts was considered the greatest horological collector of all time.
