Silver pocket watch in pair cases
–
An early repoussé pocket watch with alarm, probably made in England, circa 1690. This pair cased watch, which is crafted from silver, has a pierced and engraved outer case with a rare repoussé representation of a mythological scene on the back depicting a winged God, the inner case has a bell. The silver champlevé dial has Roman hour numerals, a decentral alarm disc and steel hands. The movement has a very early and elaborately decorated English verge escapement with fancy vase pillars.
