A very rare English silver pair cased dumb half quarter repeating watch with à tact option, circa 1780. The outer case is polished, inner case with a curved-in edge, is also polished. White enamel dial, Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and gold spade hands. A hinged, frosted gilt full-plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, cylinder escapement with Cummings curved teeth of the escape wheel, brass balance with flat balance spring, single footed clock, striking on steel block fixed to the case by depressing the pendant, gilt brass dust cup, lever for à tact option at 7 o’clock. Signed on the movement and dust cup.
