Historically interesting John Arnold chronometer
–
An historically interesting numbered chronometer, made by John Arnold & Son in London, England, circa 1803. The typical Arnold case, which is hinged to both sides, is crafted from silver, has London Hallmarks 1810 and gilt inside. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock with Arabic numerals and gold and metal hands. The beautiful, numbered, original John Arnold & Son movement, has a pierced cock, a diamond end stone, a helical hairspring and an Arnold’s detent chronometer escapement.
The movement is signed and inscribed with Invenit et Fecit meaning Invented and Made.
