Silver tortoiseshell covered verge watch

An English silver pair cased open faced key winding pocket watch by Samuel Marsden in London, circa 1767. The outer case covered with tortoiseshell. It’s signed T.P., probably for Thomas Pepper from London, a master casemaker registered in February 1767, with London date letter for 1783. White enamel dial with Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track and yellow gold spade hands. A gilded brass movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, polished steel monometallic balance and blued steel flat hairspring, pierced and engraved gilded English cock with the bust of a Roman emperor or George III (1738-1820), King of Great Britain and Ireland (1760-1820). Signature on the movement.
