An English verge in silver pair cases, circa 1812. Full plate fusee movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved round cock a solid triangular section on the table with representations of the sun, moon and stars. Gilt regulator on the top plate below the plain three-arm steel balance. Convex white enamel dial, the centre painted with a polychrome enamel scene of a farmer ploughing a field with two horses and marked Speed the Plough beneath. Arabic numerals, fine gold hands. Silver oval pendant and bow, maker’s mark WH in a rectangle.
