–
A very fine gold enamel English verge pocket watch with matching chatelaine and original numbered silk lined Morocco case, circa 1780.
Gold enamel case with half pearl set bezels, engine turned and translucent cobalt blue enamelled back side. In the center, a large single diamond is surrounded by a geometric spray of small diamonds in a white metal setting. Matching gold chatelaine, the rectangular pin set with two quatrefoils of pearls and bordered with further split pearls. Hinged gold pin and unusual small watch type bow and pendant above. Three strings of pearls hang from the pin, each with diamond set gold and enamel links. Two support the watch, the other a jump ring with a key, a matching seal and a flask. The agate oval seal has an intaglio bust, and a gold and enamel gallery is above. Unusual pearl set gold and enamel gourd shaped flask with a hinged lid. The gold engine turned dial has a florally engraved centre, inlaid radial Roman numerals, and gold spade hands. Fine full plate movement, key wind, applied floral decorations, fire gilt, signed, chain fusee, solid movement pillars, three arm steel balance, very finely florally engraved, pierced balance cock.
