Brass deck watch in a mahogany box

A fine and extremely rare, Danish brass marine chronometer, circa 1830. A mahogany deck-watch type box. Spring-mounted Brass bowl with screwed bezel, pocket watch mounted within a brass frame allowing for winding from the opening in the bowl. Enamel dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and blued steel Breguet hands. Gilt brass 3/4 plate movement with cylindrical pillars secured by pins, fusee with chain and maintaining power, the barrel passing through the back plate, and secured by a bridge, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, three-arm compensation balance with cylindrical weights and timing screws, engraved balance clock, free-sprung helical balance spring with terminal curves.
