14 Carat gold engine turned pocket watch
–
A 14 Carat gold engine turned pocket watch made in Switzerland, circa 1910. The watch’s full hunting case is made entirely of gold and its front and back covers are engine turned, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to the watch’s overall design. The perfectly preserved white enamel dial is inscribed with the word “Chronomètre” and is glazed to protect it from scratches and other damage. The dial itself features an outer ring with Arabic numerals for the hours. A subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock displays the minutes in Arabic numerals, while the golden hands provide a clear indication of the time. The movement of the watch is also factory glazed and features a fine chronometer escapement with an unusual 3/4 plate, screwed gold chatons, a fine adjustment and a cylindrical hairspring.
Movement, dial and dust cover are marked “Chronomètre”.
