Early gold quarter repeating watch by Larpent & Jürgensen

A Danish early quarter repeating pair cased verge pocket watch, circa 1785. This is an early timekeeper by Urban Jürgensen (the father) with a rare á tact and á toc repeater. The repeater mechanism has three options, it can be muted, struck on a bell or on the inside of the case.
Polished 14-carat rose gold case, inner case engraved and pierced. Signed white enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minutes track, and gold Breguet hands. Gilt full plate movement, two hammers, rear bell, chain/fusee, verge escapement, signed: Larpent & Jürgensen, Kiobenhavn.

Jörgen Jürgensen (1748-1811)
He was the father of the renowned watchmaker Urban Jürgensen; he started a watchmaking factory in Copenhagen in 1775 and went into partnership with Isaac Larpent in 1780. From then on, the company operated under the name “Larpent & Jürgensen” in Roskilde.
