Sussex Goldsmiths’ Company|
The Sussex Goldsmiths’ Company was not a watchmaker, but rather a prominent retailer and antique dealer. While you can find antique pocket watches bearing their name stamped on the dial or movement, they did not actually manufacture timepieces.
Based on the visual markings on this specific movement, the watch mechanism of the item presented here probably was manufactured by the premier English firm Nicole Nielsen & Co. (specifically under the direction of master watchmaker Emile Nielsen)
