Gold watch with polychrome enamel painting
–
A very fine French gold and enamel verge pocket watch, circa 1800.
This exquisite timepiece boasts a full plate gilt verge movement, complete with a meticulously crafted pierced and engraved bridge cock and a silver regulation disc. The enamel dial features Arabic radial hours and an outer minutes track with Arabic fifteen minutes numerals, all elegantly displayed by Breguet-style hands. The gold case is adorned with a stunning polychrome enamel painted scene, surrounded by a gold multi-coloured paillon border. The dial bears the signature of an imitator, reading Breguet A·PARIS, while the movement is similarly marked with Breguet/A·PARIS/No. 7079. This exceptional piece is stamped on either side of the stem with the marking D 79.
