Gold, enamel and paste-set watch

A very fine Swiss 18K gold and painted on enamel paste-set watch with gold and painted on enamel châtelaine, circa 1780. A Louis XV case by IBG, back centred by an oval medallion painted on enamel with a portrait of a lady, translucent green enamel frame over flinqué, the border with translucent champlevé enamel and varicoloured applied gold forming a foliate pattern, paste-set bezels. Châtelaine: two oval links with painted-on enamel portrait miniatures of ladies, gold spoon. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute Arabic numerals, winding aperture at 2 o’clock and elaborate paste-set hands. A hinged, gilt brass skeletonized movement from a full plate, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance with flat balance spring, and small solid cock. Dial and movement signed.
