Pocket watch with exquisite cylinder escapement
–
A very fine numbered lépine repeater made by Breguet et Fils in Paris, France, circa 1806. The engine turned, water drop shaped case was crafted from 18 Carat gold and is numbered as is the cuvette. The engine turned dial has Roman hour numerals and pink gold Breguet hands. The movement has an exquisite cylinder escapement, temperature compensation, a quarter hour repeater on special square gongs and a typical Breguet release of the repeater.
Dial and cuvette are signed.

All the details of the watch indicate that it is a Breguet watch. However, according to archive information, the number 1295 has a gold case numbered 555. The watch probably has a second case in the manner of the original, because the gold punch in the case only exists from 1816 onwards.

Signed: Breguet et Fils
