Gold dumb repeating watch by Breguet et Fils

A French gold open faced dumb quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1806. This watch features a gilded bar movement and a ruby cylinder, complemented by a three arm plain gold balance with parachute suspension and a compensation curb. It includes a single polished steel hammer striking à toc. The white enamel dial showcases Arabic numerals, an outer minute ring, and blued steel moon hands, with a secret signature below the 12 o’clock position, signed Breguet et Fils.

The gold case, crafted by Gros, has a polished back and band, with an engraved inscription inside that reads: This watch belonged to the 3rd Earl of Liverpool. It also features a pull and twist piston in the band, a gold cuvette signed and numbered Breguet, No. 1644, and the inside back is numbered B 1644 and 739, with French control marks and additional indistinct case marks.

The case displays some tarnishing and features an engraving on the inside case back that reads, This watch belonged to the 3rd Earl of Liverpool. Some case marks are unclear. The signature on the cuvette is worn. The movement ticks when wound and also repeats when the button is activated. The dial is cracked between 10 and 7, with the Breguet signature visible at 12.
