Gold pocket watch by J. Buzelin
–
An exceptional French 18 carat pink gold open faced lever pocket watch with a spiral column, known as a boudin, circa 1900. The watch is powered by a mechanical movement with manual winding and fitted with a vertical, rather than the more common horizontal,  balance spring. This patented design is rarely encountered. The enamel dial features Arabic radial hour numerals, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute markers, a subsidiary dial for the seconds, and elegant Breguet hands. The plain 18 carat pink gold case bears a signature on the cap and is fitted with a cloverleaf clasp.
