A fine French 18 carat multicoloured gold open faced verge pocket watch with gold watch key, circa 1800. This watch features a finely pierced and engraved keywinding, signed movement with verge escapement. It has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, while the small hand is finely openworked in the shape of a fleur de lys. The back is embellished with a three gold motif, depicting a dolphin surrounded by a spray of knotted lilies and bunches of flowers, the whole topped by a crown and resting on a fleur de lys crowned by a Marquis’ crown.
