A French 18 carat yellow gold and enamel guilloche watch with chatelaine, from the second half of the 19th century. This watch features a round case with a fluted case band and a white enamel dial with Roman numerals. The yellow gold cuvette is signed and numbered No. 13612, Charles OUDIN, Palais Royal, No. 52. Its back is decorated with a guilloché pattern and a green enamel floral pattern set with rose cut diamonds and seed pearls. The vermeil movement bears the hallmark of master Amand Dufet. It also has a yellow gold châtelaine with chiselled vegetable friezes, a guilloché pattern, and green enamel accents, with its central medallion displaying the monogram EL. Suspended from the châtelaine are three pendants with oval links holding a seal engraved with the same monogram, two watch keys, and the pocket watch.

Charles Oudin
, a talented and innovative watch and clockmaker, was a student of Abraham-Louis Breguet. Oudin excelled in creating watches with the Equation of Time feature and developed a version of this complication that could be integrated into Breguet’s souscription watches. By 1805, he had established his workshop at the Palais Royal, Galerie de Pierre. In 1819, one of Oudin’s Equation of Time watches was showcased at the Paris Exhibition.
