–
A fine French open faced keyless-winding pocket watch, circa 1890, with one horological complication: Quarter-repeater on two steel gongs (activated by the slide at 4 o’clock). Retailed by Petit fils, Paris, 2, rue de Chabanais (near the Palais Royal).
Round-shaped 18-carat pink gold case. Case back with an applied heart-shaped motif. Enamel dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track with Arabic five minutes numerals, subsidiary dial for the seconds, and gold spade hands. Nickel-plated movement with going barrel, gold screwed chaton (setting) on the central wheel, straight-line equilibrated lever escapement, cut compensated balance, and blued steel hairspring with a terminal curve. Cuvette, signed by the retailer.
