An extremely rare French 18K gold minute repeating cylinder Lépine pocket watch, circa 1830.
18K gold, case and band completely engine turned, French 18K gold punch 1819-1839, case number 12820, matching with the movement number, dome marked Repetition a Minutes, Parachute et Compensateur. Signed original engine turned silver dial with Roman hours and outer minute divisions and Breguet steel hands. Exquisite movement quality with temperature compensation and early shock absorber, cylinder escapement, and a very early minute repeater with three hammers on three gongs. A technically highly interesting collector’s watch.
