A fine French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, circa 1900. This watch has a mechanical crown winding movement with a traditional lever escapement. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, outer minute dots with Arabic five minute numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and ornate gold Louis XV style hands. The timepiece is housed in a classic round 18 carat solid yellow gold case with an 18 carat gold inner cuvette, a fluted winding crown, a small pin setting push piece near the neck at 11 o’clock, and a round suspension bow. The hinged back cover is beautifully embellished with finely detailed engraved floral and foliage decoration enclosing an unengraved central asymmetric cartouche.
