Gold open faced lever watch
–
A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by Les successeurs de Savoye frères et Cie, Neyret Frères, for retailer Miguet in Versailles, circa 1900. It has a mechanical crown set manual wind movement with a lever escapement, a bimetallic balance, and a blued steel Breguet balance spring. The movement is signed Savoye F. Et Cie, Neyret Frères Successeurs, and numbered. The white enamel dial shows black stylised Breguet numerals for the hours, an external minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gold Louis XV style hands. The watch has a round, solid gold open faced case with a fluted crown, a smooth, polished reverse, a gold inner back cuvette bearing the French horsehead hallmark, and a case signed by the maker. It is missing its bélière bow ring.
