Gold open faced cylinder watch

A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, circa 1900. It has a hand wound mechanical bridge movement with a cylinder escapement and eight rubies. The inner cuvette is marked Cylindre Huit rubis inside a cartouche and numbered. The white enamel dial shows painted black Roman numerals for the hours and outer Arabic numerals at five minute intervals for the minutes. It also has a railway minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and steel hands. The watch has a round, solid gold open faced case with a fluted crown, a decorative round bow, a smooth, polished bezel, and a case back decorated with an intricately engraved monogram of stylised initials beneath a crown.
