A French 18 carat yellow gold quarter repeating pocket watch made for Ory Nousse in Dijon, circa 1900. It has a hand wound mechanical movement with a standard lever escapement. The white enamel dial shows painted black Roman numerals for the hours, outer Arabic numerals at five minute intervals, a railway minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and ornate gold Louis XV style hands. The watch has a round, solid gold open faced case with a fluted crown, a round bow, a signed inner back gold cuvette engraved Ory Nousse à Dijon, and a case back adorned with an intertwined monogram of stylised initials in applied decoration.
