A French 18K gold and painted-on enamel quarter repeating à toc pocket watch, circa 1770. The bezel with applied rope-twist decoration, the back set with a very finely painted enamel panel depicting Diana and Cupid in a landscape, rope-twist border matches the bezel. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions, Arabic 15-minute numerals and gold beetle and poker hands. A matte gilt movement, cylindrical pillars, fuse and chain, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance, fl at balance spring, pierced and engraved continental cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial, repeating on the inside of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed.
