A fine French 20 carat multicolour gold and enamel open faced pocket watch made by Lépine in Paris, circa 1770. The frosted gilt full plate movement, ∅ 34 mm, with conical pillars, fusee and chain, a verge escapement, three arm brass balance, flat balance spring, micrometric potence adjustment, continental pierced foliate balance clock with a polished steel endplate and silver regulator dial. White enamel dial with Roman hours, outer dot minute divisions, outermost Arabic five minute numerals and original gold Louis XV hands. The Louis XV case with chased bezel and border featuring a repeated pattern, the back decorated with an oval polychrome enamel classical scene showing figures at an altar, and a varicoloured gold flower and swag border. Dial and movement signed.
