A fine French high-quality Louis XV 20 carat red gold pocket watch with repeater a toc former aristocratic property, circa 1770. Frosted gilt full plate movement, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, formerly verge escapement, later converted to cylinder escapement, three armed gilt balance, blued balance spring.
Case of excellent quality and condition, applied red-gold aristocratic monogram with crown, master’s mark XC, signed and numbered work with repetition of the hours and quarter hours a toc, high-quality French collector’s watch. It is a very fine, genuine Lepaute with repeater, a rarity for collectors of fine French pocket watches.
Well-preserved Louis XV enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track and large Arabic five-minute numerals and original decorative gold hands. Movement signed.
