A fine 20 Carat French gold, enamel and diamond set open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1770. A chased bezel decorated with flowers, the case back decorated with a polychrome enamel scene of a sultan seated at a table surrounded by spectators brandishing a dagger, an old man with a stick in the front and a dog at his feet, the border decorated to match the bezel, a thumb piece set with an old cut diamond.

White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, a winding aperture at 2 o’clock and rose cut diamond set hands. A hinged gilt brass full plate movement with pentagonal pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three arm balance, flat balance spring, pierced and foliate chased continental type balance cock with polished steel end piece, silver regulation dial. Movement signed.
