Gilt brass Oignon pocket watch

A French decorative, engraved and single handed Oignon pocket watch, made by Maussion in Verdun, circa 1700. The watch features a fullplate rooster movement with chain and fusee, and a verge escapement. Its white enamel dial displays large blue Roman numerals arranged radially, with an inner ring marked for hours and quarters. Wound through the enamel dial at two o’clock, it has a steel single hand. The fire gilded case is finely engraved and hallmarked.
