Gilt metal clock watch by Saintpere
–
French gilt metal one handed oignon verge watch with silvered balance bridge, circa 1700. This watch features a gilded full plate movement signed Saintpere, à Paris, with a verge escapement, fusee, and chain, a pierced and engraved silver balance bridge, and elegant Egyptian pillars. The gilt metal dial is decoratively engraved, showcasing Roman numerals on white enamel plaques, an inner enamel minute ring, and blued steel hands. Its gilt metal case is adorned with intricately chased and engraved bezels. The back displays a finely chased classical scene of a reclining goddess being courted by a centaur, with Cupid hovering above.
