Gold repeating verge by Gaudron
–
A rarity, one of less than 10 known Louis XIV Oignons with gold case and repeater, Royal watchmaker Gaudron Paris, circa 1700. A case inside brass gilt, outer surface high quality gold, finest engraving, minimum 18K, presumably even 20K gold, pierced, bell, early verge movement, repeating the hours and quarters, mock pendulum, magnificent verge bridge with bird motifs, very beautiful dial with enamel cartouches, dial presumably also gold, again bird motifs, iron hands, visually in excellent condition, movement with several signs of repair, presumably original key, absolute rarity. Gold watches from the Louis XIV time are museum objects and extremely rare! Until today less than 10 Oignons with gold cases are known!
