Gold full hunter watch with high relief by Barbary
–
A French lady’s gold and diamond set cylinder watch with the case chased in high relief, circa 1860. The watch features a gilded movement with a cylinder escapement and a plain flat three-arm balance. It has a white enamel dial, signed by Barbary, Rue de la Paix 22, Paris, adorned with red Roman numerals, gold hands that are decoratively pierced and engraved, and a red outer minute ring. The gold case boasts covers that are heavily chased and engraved, with the front depicting flowers and foliage centred around a diamond set monogram, while the back showcases two putti and a bird among flowers and foliage, complemented by diamond set bezels and a polished cuvette signed Barbary, Rue de la Paix 24, Paris.
–
The dial is signed for 22 Rue de La Paix but the cuvette is marked 24 Rue de la Paix.

The movement is functioning smoothly, and the hands are correctly. The visible surfaces appear to be in good condition. The dial has several scratches, with one slightly more prominent between 3 and 6. There are a few chips around the dial screws, particularly the one to the right at 3 o’clock. The case decoration is generally in good condition, showing light marks and scratches. However, the front panel is quite heavily tarnished.
