A very early souscription watch with archive information made by Breguet et Fils in Paris, France, circa 1803. This watch features a typical Breguet case, silver with a gold coined band, which is numbered and punched with the maker’s mark R.L. The screwed white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions and one steel Breguet hand. The numbered movement is fitted with a cylinder escapement, parachute and temperature compensation.

This timepiece was probably modernized by Breguet et Fils in the 19th century, as was the case with many of their early watches. According to the Breguet archives, the present watch was later given a silver case, originally, it had a gold one. It is a particularly fine and early example of Breguet’s souscription watches from the early years. Only around 700 of these examples were made from 1796 onwards.
