Multicoloured gold key wind pocket watch

French multi colour gold open faced key wind pocket watch with turquoise cabochon and red stones, made by Nicod in Paris, mid-19th century. This watch features a key wind mechanical movement with a verge escapement, a finely chased and pierced cock, and an advance/delay setting disk. The engine turned gilt dial displays Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track, a winding square aperture at two o’clock, and Breguet style hands. The round-hinged, multicoloured gold case is richly decorated in relief with leafy motifs in several shades of gold, set with turquoise cabochons and red stones. Accompanied by a matching gold watch chain, gross weight 16.4 g, and an original gold winding key.
