A French gold double dialled astronomical pocket watch with a full calendar, circa 1830. Plain case, glazed on both sides. A white enamel dial on the front with a visible balance at 12 o’clock, small radial time indication at 6 with Arabic hours, outer minute divisions and Arabic quarter hour numerals, a subsidiary dial on the left for the days of the week and another on the right for the date, the reverse with six polychrome enamel decorated subsidiary dials for sunrise and sunset, length of day and night and signs of the zodiac. Full plate movement, chain and fusee, verge escapement, three arm brass balance.
