Ferriere, French or Swiss watch manufacturer
The watch shown cannot be made in France. There is hardly a watchmaker with the name Ferriere listed in the French archives. Only the name Ferrier can be found in the archives, Antoine Ferrier was a master watchmaker of the king in Paris around 1620. Ferriere Guillaume was also called Ferriere or Ferrieres. He was the master watchmaker of the king in Paris, around 1640. Then there was François Ferrier on the Rue de Seine in Paris. Maybe he was the manufacturer, but he wasn’t shown as Ferriere. He died on October 22, 1771.

The name Ferriere or Ferrière can be found in Geneva. This clock was made possible by a collaboration between Abraham Ferriere (1744-1806), who was a clockmaker, Jean-François Ferriere (1750-after 1790) who was a goldsmith and François Ferriere (1752-1839), who was a well-known enamel painter and miniaturist. The father Jean-Claude Ferriere (1709-1787) was educated in Paris. François Ferriere was trained as a Mahler in Paris and married Marie-Antoinette Reboul (1763-ca 1825) in Geneva on February 13, 1785 in Genève. Marie-Antoinette Reboul was the watchmaker’s daughter Daniela-Antoine Reboul. He was then back in Paris, but he left this city and moved to London with his wife and daughter because of the revolutionary unrest.
