–
A Swiss two colour gold, enamel, and paste set open faced verge watch with enamel painting, circa 1780. This watch features a gilt full plate movement hinged to the case, cylindrical pillars, verge escapement, three armed balance, continental type balance cock, polished steel endplate, and a silver regulation dial. The white enamel dial has Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions, outermost Arabic five minute numerals, a winding aperture at 2 o’clock, and original paste set pierced hands. The Louis XVI case has a paste set bezel, with the back set featuring a finely painted polychrome enamel oval panel depicting a young couple before an altar in a classical landscape. The back also has a paste set border and a matted gold outer border decorated with raised flowers and enamelled leaves. The dial and movement are signed.

The movement is functioning properly. The enamel dial has a minor hairline crack near the winding hole. The hands have been replaced. Some paste is missing. The enamel portrait is in good condition, though there is a scratch at the bottom. The surface of the enamel shows scratches and general wear. The enamel floral border has some losses.
